Camping La Forêt de Tessé Campsite

 The campsite is on a 2 acre level field adjoining our property. We are a couple who moved to France from the UK. We used to go camping with our motorhome. We created this campsite by putting evreything into it that we liked about campsites. 

The pitches are spacious, you can choose if you like subetween sunny, shaded or half shaded pitches. All the pitches have access to drinking water and 10 Amp electricity.  Some also have picnic tables. 

Our shower block has 2 showers, 3 toilets, 2 washing up sinks a washing machine and a dryer.  One cubicle is disabled. There is an extra washing up sink outside. Barbecues are allowed on the pitches or you can use the communal chimney barbecue.

The campsite is situated in Grosbout, a peaceful hamlet. This is the right place for you if you like to relax and observe nature around you. We are in the Charente department in South West of France. We enjoy long hot summers and short mild winters. We have amazing sunsets and night skies as there is no light polution in our hamlet.

The surrounding quiet roads are ideal for cycling and walking. The area is dotted with picturesque villages, beautiful stone houses, churches and private chateaus. Each guest will receive an information folder on arrival. This contains details about restaurants, activities and places to visit. It also has recommended cycle routes or you can just borrow one of our maps to plan your own routes.  Ruffec; a small town with supermarkets, food markets, bars and restaurants is only 10 minutes drive away.

If you are looking for a stop over location on your way to Spain we are half-way between the ferry ports and Spain. The N10 motorway that leads down to the South is only 10 minutes drive.

Self catering

Bread and pastries are delivered in High Season.

2 swimming lakes and a swimming river with canoeing is only a short drive from us. You can canoue down to Verteuil-sur-Charente, a pretty town with a visiting chateau, cafes, restaurants and wine tasting.

La Vallée des Singes: The Valley of the Monkeys in Romagne, where you can have close encounters with smaller monkeys or watch the feeding of the chimpansies and gorillas.

Nanteuil-en-Vallée is a pictoresque stone village with an arboretum for a picnic and one of our favorite French restaurant: La Aberge de L'Argentor.

A traditional French restaurant that is very popular with our guest the: Aux Choeurs de Bachuss is only 10 mintes drive from us in Courtanne. This is a small restaurant with a few tables situated in the owners barn. Alain recommends wine with each course and Isabelle cooks gourmet food.

Angoulême, the capital of the Charente department. Walk around the ramparts and try to locate all the murals the city is famous for.  Enjoy lunch in one of the many restaurants or cafés. Classic car race and comic festival in the summer.

La Rochelle with beaches, picturesque port, sea food restaurants and boutiques. Futuroscope Amusement Park in Poitiers.
