Mallory Park EMRA 05/05/2021
We arrived and it rained, so already there was something for me to be unhappy about as I don’t like riding in the wet. We got signed on, noise tested and scrutineered ready for the morning.
In the morning I had my classic Mallory breakfast of hash-browns and black pudding with baked beans, real racing diet there guys… this helped me get some energy in ready for my idea of a hellish day ahead… I went out for practice/qualifying and wasn’t expecting to do anything sensational… 10th on the grid but P1 in class… I thought “oh mint” not really thinking anything of it. Went down to the holding area for race one, pulled up on the grid. Lights went on, then out and before you know it (after a few interesting battles) I went from 10th on the grid to 3rd overall and 1st in my class. Jodie Fieldhouse was standing on pit wall giving me the arm waves to keep going and I’m almost there and she was there when I got back into the pits to give me a big old hug. WE FINALLY WON!! And to top it all off we made it a double win in class and 2nd in the overall race. I led most of the second race but there was a 500 two-stroke that just managed to pip me towards the end. But what a belting weekend!! I blame the breakfast..
