Surroundings

Our chambre d'hôtes is located (500 m) on the side where the sun rises (L'Auvergne a coté soleil levant) in the Livraidois Forez, which is a regional nature park with low mountains (we overlook the Col du Béal 1390 m) and with an enormous wealth of animals and plants. It is also called the “Vallée de la Dore ”because it is the valley between the two mountain ranges, Monts du Livradois and Monts du Forez.More sun in summer, more cold and snow in winter. Autumn is beautiful in its colors and it is often so nice that we can have lunch outside. Spring can be a bit colder and wetter, but that makes up for the wonderful summer. And much less wind than we were used to (on the coast), so that makes it nice and pleasant in the sun. In short, we are very satisfied with the weather here!

The Auvergne is also called the lungs of France. This means the clean air that we sniff here. It consists of four departments, the Allier, Puy de Dôme, Cantal and the Haute Loire and is a varied region in terms of landscape. Here no danger of monotony: volcanoes, forests, plains, mountains and valleys often still with rugged unspoiled nature.

Our Rooms

Our charming rooms have comfortable beds (King size). All rooms have their own bathroom with shower and toilet.Currently we offer two double bedrooms on the second floor with a balcony and a beautiful view. A third bedroom is a family room with entrance on the ground floor with its own terrace.

Every morning we serve a good breakfast (included in the price of the night)

Arrival after 4:00 pm. And departure before 10:30 am

The pleasure of good food

At the end of the day, you can choose to have dinner with us consisting of a starter, main course and dessert.Together with us and the other guests, you will dine at a large table in our cosy salle à manger or, weather permitting, in our veranda or on the outdoor terrace in our garden.

Along the Route des Métiers, discover castles, monuments and museums, as well as craft workshops where you can discover or rediscover ancient techniques.For example: Museum of Fourme d'Ambert in the footsteps of the famous round AOC cheese.

La Maison du Park Livradois Forez invites you to discover the extraordinary territory of the Livradois Forez. You can watch a number of films about the diversity and richness of the territory through exhibitions and visit the shop on the park's history and expertise Livradois Forez. There are also several excursions on offer, including hiking, biking and recreation in the park.The Moulin Richard de Bas in Ambert where you will discover the history of paper since its inception.Museum of Knives in Thiers on the history of the manufacture of knives.Make the ascent of the Puy de Dome (1465) Way of the Mule, a sporting challenge. Or closer to home the Col du Bèal (1390)

This is a hiker's paradise, with several walks of different lengths ranging from easy to difficult. The Auvergne is perfect for exploring by mountain bike or (electric) bicycle. For enthusiasts, there are many routes at different levels.Or for a dose of sensation and adventure, you can explore the beautiful Auvergne by motorbike.

Pretty villages are authentic Olliergues with its castle and old trades and Ambert with its lively market on Thursday with lots of crafts and local products.House of the Fourme d’Ambert and Mairie Ronde. Thiers, the city of cutlery. Billom, the village of pink garlic. Arlanc with the Lace Museum. La Chaise-Dieu with its famous abbey and a classical music festival in August. Vichy, a charming town, good shopping with lots of history and known for its thermal baths.
