The Roost Retreat Apartment

5 Leeming Lane, Northallerton, United Kingdom

Welcome to The Roost Retreat

Welcome to The Roost Retreat in Leeming Bar, located on the Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales.  Our quirky little bolthole was formerly an Orangery, built in the 1930's to the main property of Elm Tree Farm when it was still a working farm. It was beautifully restored in 2018 by the previous owners and converted into comfortable, quiet and cosy self-catering barn-style accommodation for one or two guests.  We have private, level off-road parking with a smooth tarmac drive and secure lock-up for motorcycles and bicycles.  Washing facilities and pannier/helmet storage available.  We have a bicycle repair shop and parts (John H. Gill & Sons) next door but one to us.

We are perfectly located just off junction 51 on the A1(M) in the heart of Leeming Bar (we are located on the old Great North Road), a mile from the lovely market town of Bedale and a short ride away into the stunning Yorkshire Dales (Heart of James Herriot Country) where there are some fantastic biking roads and beautiful countryside. One of our favourite rides is the circular route to Hawes and back through Askrigg (`Darrowby' in the 1970's TV programme, All Creatures Great and Small), via Aysgarth Falls and up to Richmond.

The Roost Retreat has a luxurious and comfy king-size four-poster bed, en-suite shower room and seating area with tables, TV with freeview channels and complimentary Wi-Fi.  There are tea and coffee making facilities, with a range of Ringtons teas, hot chocolate and accompanying mini-marshmallows for added luxury! There is a decent size fridge with a small freezer compartment. We provide `welcome' essentials such as fresh milk, bottle of tap water, portion of butter, homemade marmalade/jam and homemade cake for your arrival (two night stays or more).  There is a separate kitchenette/dining area equipped with an air fryer, microwave, toaster, Krups coffee machine and pods, mini-fridge and more.  Please note: We do not have cooker top or oven as we are limited for space. There is a small Co-op next door-but-one where they have a good range of ready meals and other provisions and a cash point outside.

We also have a patio area which is for guest use whilst staying with us. Overlooking our lovely garden with trees and an abundance of visiting wild birds, there is a barbeque, table and two chairs, plastic plates/glasses and a fire pit to snuggle up in the summer evenings! The Roost Retreat is peaceful, cosy and quiet and perfect for one-night stop-overs or a longer break to visit our beautiful area and what North Yorkshire has to offer as well as fantastic biking roads!
