Just finished up a hearty breakfast courtesy of our Hosts Mick & Elli.  Coffee has been drunk by the gallon and the bikes have been moved out of the secure garage. Tyre pressures checked , oil and fuel checked and the bikes turned over for a couple of minutes to warn them they are going to be thrashed.

Next doors dog is barking and howling as he is jealous of the Monsters deep gutteral growl! A quick swamp stop then its into the leathers , ear plugs in, helmet on and its time to turn and burn.

The road - GI 682.

We head out of Micks making our way through the town of San Feliu de Guixolls, passing the cop shop on the left (shhhhh!) and then take a right at the old monestry, signposted the GI 682 towards Tossa de Mar. Its should be signposted 'To Fun' in our view. Heading out there are a few initial hairpins and nice curvas to get the juices flowing and get 'in the zone'. We then hit a bit of straight (ideal for overtaking the inevitable camper vans early on). We are then launched into a full on experience of twists left, twists right, positive cambers and negative ones. The road follow the natural contours of the rocky Costa Brava coastline and if caught on the right day (most) the views are breathtaking.

Tossa de Mar

We are still on the GI 682 and then fun has not stopped, about 5 miles from Tossa beware of tourists parking their cars on the road, time to ease off the throttle a bit for safetys sake. But no matter we all to soon get past this hazard and get the hammer down again for the final sprint into Tossa. Head straight into the town centre and use the biker cafe on your right, plenty of parking for motorcycles right opposite, and much like all of Spain they do a cracking hot wet! Are you ready to go? the next leg is less technical but fast!

Llagostera - GI 681

Take it easy out of town towards Llagostera, the police station isn't far and there are a couple of 'slippery' roundabouts to negotiate. Once you have passed this last one the road just becomes classically fun! Pull the pin and let her rip for some fast left and right handers, if your'e lucky you will get a tow from one of the locals? As we ride uphill the roads become curvy again, the surface is sublime and there is plenty of width and grip to get that knee down. We hit the top of the hill and then make our way downhill into more curves, beware a couple have negative cambers but again the grip is everlasting here. Eventually the road starts opening up again into much of the same as the initial blast. Long, fast turns with great visibilty and a proper confidence booster should you need it. Finally on the run into Llagostera we are treated to a 1 1/2 mile straight! Head down, bum up time!

Back to the Sea!

Turn around in Llagostera and pick up the smaller, tighter GIP 6821 which will lead us back to the sea and Salionç (our first waypoint). Much like the GI 682 this road is toppers with technical fun and twists, albeit a slightly smaller width. No need to get out of 2nd/3rd for this, keep the revs high and the feedback coming, through the tyres, the frame and the bars. When you crest the hill the view is astounding! Great place to stop for a phot or a breather! Take in that sea, the clarity of the crystal blue sky, oh and smile!!

Back to SFG

Same bit of road we travelled on initially but this time the opposite way. It's absolutley exhilarating when turning into left handers here as in places it's a 600m drop to the rocks below if it goes wrong. Trust your bike, trust your tyres and get it done! The euphoria afterwards is like a class A drug! Loads of viewpoints here to stop and take photo's safely, so don't fear one will be along shortly for you to get a group phot! Off we tip then back into SFG, It's local practice to rock up to one of the many bars or eateries for a bit of Tapas and a well deserved Caña. Once happy head back to Micks, with smiles all over. Put the bike to bed then get hard on the Estrellas!
