The Old Farm of Amfreville is situated at Cauquigny, just 4 km from the historic town of Sainte Mere Eglise, famous for where paratrooper John Steele was caught on the church spire and the location is central to where the majority of the airborne invasion began as relived on the famous television show ‘Band of Brothers‘

We are just a moment’s walking distance from the memorial to Charles D Glopper and a 10 minutes walk from La Fiere.

During the German occupation, the farm and its outbuildings housed a 91st Infantry Division officer and the 20 men under his command, who operated a field post office and communication center here.

Later it was used as a German field hospital temporarily during the battle of Normandy, until its liberation by the 82nd Airborne Division
