Welcome to Gîtes La Forêt de Tessé

Camping & Gîtes La Forêt de Tessé has a 10 pitch campsite, 2 Bell Tents and a 1 bedroom Gîte to rent. The gîte is completely separate from the campsite and has a separate entrance and courtyard. The large in-ground swimming pool is shared. Your hosts live on site and are available if you require any help or information. Dogs are allowed by prior arrangement.

The newly renovated gîte is attached to the main house and is the oldest part of the property dating back to the 16th century. This is a spacious 60 m² gîte with living room/dining room, separate kitchen, upstairs bedroom with en-suite shower room.

The front door opens onto the living/dining room with exposed beam ceiling, stone walls, ancient fireplace fitted with a wood burner that heats the entire gîte during the winter months.The 3 seater and the 2 seater sofa in the lounge offer plenty of seating.

Flat-screen television with British or French television channels. DVD player. Selection of DVDs and books are available.

The dining area has an oak table and 3 chairs.From the fully equipped kitchen a 12-step staircase leads to the upstairs bedroom and the en-suite shower room.

The bedroom has 1 super-king bed, which can be divided into 2 single beds and an optional 3rd single guest bed if required. There is also a sofa bed in the living room.

A travel cot is available for rent.

There is plenty of storage with a large wardrobe and chest of draws.

Ceiling fan to use on hotter days. Modern shower room with sink, toilet and towel radiator.

Stair gates and fire guards are available on request.

Bedding and towels are included.

Washing machine for the use of the gîte guests.

Daily bread and patisserie delivery in high season.

Outside in the courtyard is table and chairs to enjoy breakfast in the morning sun. For the hotter parts of the day there is a covered terrace and dining area with a BBQ.

What's Nearby

2 swimming lakes and a swimming river with canoeing is only a short drive from us. You can canoue down to Verteuil-sur-Charente, a pretty town with a visiting chateau, cafes, restaurants and wine tasting.

La Vallée des Singes: The Valley of the Monkeys in Romagne, where you can have close encounters with smaller monkeys or watch the feeding of the chimpansies and gorillas.

Nanteuil-en-Vallée is a pictoresque stone village with an arboretum for a picnic and one of our favorite French restaurant: La Aberge de L'Argentor.

A traditional French restaurant that is very popular with our guest the: Aux Choeurs de Bachuss is only 10 mintes drive from us in Courtanne. This is a small restaurant with a few tables situated in the owners barn. Alain recommends wine with each course and Isabelle cooks gourmet food.

Ideal for a day out:

Cognac with tastin tours.

Angoulême, the capital of the Charente department. Walk around the ramparts and try to locate all the murals the city is famous for. Enjoy lunch in one of the many restaurants or cafés. Classic car race and comic festival in the summer.

La Rochelle with beaches, picturesque port, sea food restaurants and boutiques. Futuroscope Amusement Park in Poitiers.
