Weir Cottage Gîte

The Limousin is famous for it's forests and lakes and we have both here at Gites de Laprade, our location in the Haute Vienne region, is quite unique, the river Couze which surrounds our property, runs quietly by both our gites and feeds our 2 acre lake (unfortunately this means the location is unsuitable for children), this is well stocked with carp up to 35lb+ and colourful Koi carp, maybe you could try your hand at a bit of fishing, we are also happy to welcome your dog. This beautiful area abounds with wildlife, deer, wild boar and buzzards are easily spotted and the mix of forests and lakes make for perfect biking and cycling.

We are approx 40 mins from Limoges airport where www.ryanair.comprovide cheap flights from lots of international and regional airports, 20 minutes from the main A20, about 61/2 hours from Calais.

You are welcome to check in any time after 3pm and the day of departure, we would ask you to leave by 10am.  We live on site so late arrivals and early departures are not a problem, please ask if you have any special requests about times, depending on demand we may be able to be more flexible.

The gites qre self catering.

Lounge/Diner/Kitchen ~ this lovely open space has a large sofa and chair, TV/DVD with English and French channels, dining table and chairs; kitchen area is fully equipped and there are stunning views of the lake and the river from the three windows in this area. The bedroom, with lake view has a double bed and storage. The bathroom, with a stunning view of the river, has a shower, toilet and vanity unit. Outside there is parking space for your bike/s (we have gates on the entrance to the property and these can be closed if needed) and the essential BBQ, table and chairs and use of the above ground pool, boat and kayak.

From the gite the closest bar/restaurant and a tea shop sre in Rancon which is less than 5 mins away by motorbike. It is only less than 10 minutes into Chateauponsac where you will find shops, restaurants, fuel and tourist information and the bigger town of Bellac (http://bellac.free.fr/PAGES/b and ellac_vers_GB.htm) is approximately 15 minutes away, this beautiful, historic town is well worth a visit, here you will also find many shops, bars and restaurants as well as a large tourist information office.
