Chalet Cristal Morillon Gîte
Rue Michel Collin, Verchaix, France
Welcome to Chalet Cristal Morillon
Chalet Cristal Morillon is a beautiful chalet with a hot tub, in its own large garden in the middle of the Grand Massif area of the Northern French Alps. It’s less than one hour from Geneva or an easy eight hour drive from Calais.
It's a cycling mecca with the start of the Col de Joux Plane 2 km from the chalet and the Col de Ramaz / Col de l'Encranaz around 10 km. Slightly further afield, but easily rideable on a day out is the Col de Columbière.
Mountain bikers are equally well catered for with fantastic natural, technically challenging single track in the valley itself. In peak summer season the ski lifts are open daily. Out of season, one of the local mountain bike shops runs minibus uplifts to key points.
Chalet Cristal is traditional on the outside and comtemporary on the inside. The chalet is surrounded by hedges on all sides making the garden very private and providing ample off-road parking for three - four cars.
The chalet sleeps nine people in four bedrooms, two of which (a double and a king) are ensuite. The other two bedrooms, which are a twin and a triple share a family bathroom. There is a further bedroom in the separate, self-contained, ground floor apartment. The apartment also has a sofa bed and Z bed, sleeping up to 13 people in total. Booking the chalet and apartment together is perfect for larger family groups; it gives grandparents or parents of very young children the opportunity for their own space whilst still being very much part of the holiday.
Please note that we never rent the chalet and apartment to separate groups of guests so you will always have the whole property to yourself.
The location is wonderful all year round. If only part of your group are cyclists then there's more than enough activities to keep everyone else happy ranging from adventure sports like parapenting, white water rafting, caving, rock climbing etc all the way through to visits to stunning gardens and medieval towns like Anney and Yvoire. Hikes in the area range from gentle strolls along the river to multi-day adventures. Many of the refuges are relatively easily accessible and make for a great overnight adventure for children from 4 upwards.
Check In/Out Times
Check in from 17:00
Check out by 10:00
We try and accommodate early check in where possible. At the very least you will be able to leave bags (and bikes) safely in the boot room if you arrive early / leave later.
Changeover day is normally Sunday, but we can of course be flexible, particularly in off peak season and can also offer short breaks. Please contact us to discuss your requirements.
Please note that the chalet is not a traditional 'gîte' as we don't live on site. We have an excellent local managing agent who will handle check in and check out and cleaning etc.
Prices are for rental of the chalet on a self-catered basis and include:
* Beds made prior to arrival
* Towels provided
* Welcome hamper of food and drinks
* Complimentary toiletries

There are a number of freelance chefs in the valley, who can cater at the chalet for a special occasion. There's also an excellent meal delivery service too as well as superb delicatessens and specialist food shops in the valley as well as a great bakery round the corner.
