Welcome to Post Office House Bed and Breakfast
Simon and Claire welcome you to their home at Post Office House, a Grade II Listed former Victorian post office and telephone exchange which was fully refurbished in 2016 and now an elegant bed and breakfast. We offer comfortable, cosy and luxurious accommodation with three individually designed en-suite rooms and an emphasis on excellent hospitality, quality and attention-to-detail.
Our facilities include private off-street parking, storage for bicycles and secure parking for motorcycles; complimentary WiFi, full hospitality trays and Nespresso coffee machines in each room. We have two double rooms (one on the ground floor) and one twin.
Our award-winning breakfasts range from Full Northumbrian to the famous Craster kippers, with vegetarian options also available. Special diets are catered for with advance notice. For Vegan diets, we have a separate bespoke breakfast menu in addition to our standard menu and this is extra at £5 per room, per day. We use locally sourced produce where we can in our breakfasts, accompanied by Claire's homemade muesli, jams and marmalade. Breakfast is served in our cosy dining room with a wood burning stove lit in the colder months.
Belford is located in North Northumberland and perfectly located between Alnwick and Berwick-upon-Tweed, just minutes off the A1. The stunning coastline and sandy beaches of Ross Back Sands and Budle Bay are within a few miles. Places on the must-visit list are Alnwick Castle and Gardens, Cragside House, Ingram Valley, Holy Island of Lindisfarne, Barter Books in Alnwick and the beautiful Northumberland Coast AONB with Dunstanburgh Castle, Craster, Alnmouth and Warkworth. The Farne Islands is a mecca of wildlife including puffins, grey seals, terns and much more, there are regular boat trips from Seahouses. Puffins, Guillemots, Terns and many others return to our shores in March.
IMPORTANT: Before planning a trip over to Lindisfarne, it is essential to check the tide times first for safe crossing. This information can be found online under Holy Island Crossing Times
We are also on a main bus route with services along the Northumberland Coast (Coast and Castles, X18 service) and to all larger towns such as Morpeth, Alnwick and Berwick, with a direct service to Newcastle-upon-Tyne (X15). Buses also run from outside our door to Berwick upon Tweed station with direct trains to Edinburgh.

In Belford, there are local facilities including two pubs (Black Swan and The Salmon). The Blue Bell Hotel opposite us serve evening meals most days. The Black Swan is a traditional pub where you will receive a warm welcome and a selection of hand-pulled local ales. The Salmon Inn is open Thursday to Sunday, serves food (Thurs-Sun) and a range of real ales. There is Sunnyhills farm shop who serve afternoon teas and take-away food until 5 pm. Lots of lovely gastro pubs and seafood restaurants are to be found a short distance away. We also have a very good taxi service in Belford (Croft Cabs) if you wish to leave your bike behind for the evening (by pre-book). Nearest petrol station is Purdy Lodge (2 miles south A1) and going north, Beal Services (5 miles) or cheaper fuel at Tesco's, Morrisons and Asda supermarkets in Berwick-upon-Tweed. Motorcycle repairs shops can be found in Berwick (15 miles north).
We do advise that you book in advance for evening meals as our pubs and restaurants. Various places around us provide a delivery/take-away service but please note, take-away food is prohibited in our guest rooms. If you wish to enjoy a take-away meal, then there is our lovely garden where there is a picnic table so take away meals can be enjoyed. There is a chiminea if it gets chilly and a barbeque for guest use (coals are not provided). We also provide plastic plates, cutlery, napkins and glasses for your use.
